Contemporary fiction can be a real downer. So often, modern literary novels deal with heavy, depressing issues, and don’t always have a happy ending. So what to read when you want something a bit light, inspiring and uplifting, but not necessarily fluffy or poorly written?
This is a question I get a lot as a Readers’ Services Librarian. Sometimes readers are going through a tough time in life, or have a friend or family member dealing with illness, or just need a break from the drama of weighty literature.
For times like these, I created a list of 16 titles, called Uplifting Fiction (that isn’t fluff), in our catalogue, and thought I would share it with you on this very rainy Friday. Enjoy!
