LynnCoadyIn case you hadn’t heard, Lynn Coady won this year’s Giller Prize for her short story collection, Hellgoing. Coady was considered a bit of a longshot.

Foodie alert! The 2013 Taste Canada food-writing awards were announced this week.

The Painted Girls, by Canadian author Cathie Marie Buchanan, might become a TV show! The CW and CBS are looking at adapting the bestselling novel about three French ballerina sisters in 1880s Paris to the small screen.

And in more screen news, Dennis Lehane’s Live By Night is being adapted into a feature film, with Ben Affleck directing and starring.

Khaled Hosseini, author of the bestselling novels And the Mountains Echoed, The Kiterunner, and A Thousand Splendid Suns, is coming to Vancouver on Dec. 5th.
