Have you been hoarding old magazines, books or maps? Are you wondering what to do with them?
I have an idea! You should come to our Upcycling Workshop on September 29th! Upcycling is a fancy term for “crafting with recycled materials.” Local upcycler extraoirdinaire and owner of Thrifty By Design, Denise Corcoran, will be leading the workshop on making envelopes, gift cards, gift tags and fridge magnets with old items. We will provide materials, but feel free to bring any old maps, magazines, books or other paper materials you’d like to use.
About Denise: Denise is a print and web designer based in North Vancouver. She works for the City of North Vancouver, Quest University Canada, and has numerous other freelance gigs. In her spare time, she is a crafter and upcycler. Projects include repurposing items like making pillow covers out of old wool sweaters and refinishing furniture retrieved from thrift stores, garage sales and the dump. More info can be found at www.thriftybydesign.ca.
The workshop is from 1:30 to 3pm here at the library in the Singh Room on the third floor. It’s free and no registration is required. Let me know if you have any questions, and hope to see you there!
