New NVCL Book Club

Here at NVCL we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about ways we can accomodate more customer involvement in book clubs. For the last eight years, we’ve operated two successful member-only clubs, but we wanted to find a way to include as many people as possible, as there is a great deal of interest in the community.  I’m very happy to announce that the result of this thought and planning process is the new NVCL Book Club, which will accomodate as many people as can fit in our third-floor Singh room (max capacity is about 100, so I think we should be fine for space!)

The New Book Club begins October 19th, and is open to adults of all ages. I have focused on selecting books that are contemporary, thought provoking and of interest to a variety of ages, genders and interests. No registration or membership is required. We’ll meet every six weeks from October through June, and discussion will be facilitated by yours truly.

Our first book is the mesmorizing A Visit From the Goon Squad, by Jennifer Egan, which won both the National Book Critics Circle award and the Pulitzer Prize for fiction.

For more information on dates and times, how the club works, where you can pick up a copy of the book, and the rest of the year’s book selections, go here, or email me at hschiller@cnv.org.
